What to say about the Timberline Lodge Cookbook... only, I guess that the recipes in this book are within the skill level of everyone. If you have never been to the Lodge, this is the next best thing to sampling the wonderful menu at the Cascade Dining Room. I use this book whenever I cook for a special event, and continue to get rave reviews from all.

I-Bots was a fun book to read. It stayed within the boundaries of the Asimov universe. It was an exceptionally action oriented book which sets it apart from other books in the Asimov universe. I found it to be a quick and enjoyable read. I liked it so much, I read it in one night. The book has well developed characters. The plot was well thought out with many exciting twists and turns.

This is a short, but very powerful book. Filled with excellent examples that every business person should know. If you are in business, or own your own business and have wondered about how to make the Internet work for you, this little book will help.

Peggy gave me this book, autographed to my children, in 1996 when we went to the same church. I didnt know then what a big difference this one book would have to us. It actually improved our love of books. Its been my children's favorites ever since and its held up through 3 childrens' handling and reading. The story is colorful, imaginative and everyone loves it! I'm so proud of her books, especially this one, that has continued to warm our hearts even after 4 years of reading it frequently. If you want a book that will endure years of reading and enjoyment, the kind of book that gets passed down in the family.. this is the one to get. You will treasure this one always, like we do. The Treasure of Our Heritage is a delightful story, mostly because it is true. As a decendent of Sam Via (by adoption) it is amazing to see through the eyes of the one who lived it, just what life was like in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It is truely a "treasure" to have such a history in ones background. It is also a treasure to have such a close family. No matter what your own personal hiustory, this book is a great read for anyone who values history itself.

This book might well have been be re-named 'An Anthology of the Spiritual Life.'

In the sequence of a spiritual quest, the extensive quotes from the many Christian mystics, from an Islamic genius to a Hebraic comment, from sayings by Tibetan sages to a Taoist message, and by the 'naturist' vision of the Red Indian Master are all presented, all interlocked in a method of cross-references in which an over-all sense of unity is maintained. With its extraordinary index of sources, the book is the nearest thing to a whole religious library compressed between the covers of a single book. Nothing appears to have been left out or be missing.

Awareness is documented throughout all the pages of this book, as keys used at different stages of the Way to unlock the gate of Unitive truth, transcending distinctions of religious form. Its author can bear witness to an ultimate truth: that by living his own form faithfully and intensely a man will live all 'other' forms by implication.

This book gives testimony by those who had opened the 'heart's eye' throughout the spiritual history of mankind. In it, one finds a fertile source of reference and inspiration.

Although the author primarily had in mind the man or woman of serious spiritual intent, it may be of service to historically or academically minded students just as it may come as a manual, handy to equip oneself for meeting with others who are like-minded from all parts of the world, to all advocates of religious understanding at an oecumenical level.

In Switzerland in 1973, shortly after its first publication, I had the opportunity to find and read through this book. My own copy has remained a personal treasure.

If a visionary like Jesus Christ was admitted to a modern psychiatric hospital, he'd be diagnosed as "mentally imbalanced" and injected with anti-psychotic medication. If his delusional symptoms continued for more than a few days, the drug dosage would be increased. Eventually the patient's condition would be stabilized, allowing a transfer from the locked ward to a halfway house, thence to a board-and-care home, with biweekly visits to an outpatient clinic. No longer a threat to himself and others, Jesus would begin his career as a permanent client of the mental health system.

"Trials of the Visionary Mind" is a powerful critique of modern psychiatry, but even more importantly, this book offers an alternative vision of how the natural healing process can be encouraged with compassionate therapy instead of being suppressed with coercive "treatment."

In the 1970's John Weir Perry founded Diabasis, a safe haven in San Francisco where individuals experiencing an acute first episode of psychosis ("spiritual emergency") were allowed to let their psychic upheaval run its course in a caring environment without medication. Perry discusses the philosophy behind Diabasis, and he shares some of the lessons learned and insights gained from a lifetime of study and practice.

The book includes an appendix with suggestions on how to set up a residence facility like Diabasis, but it's unlikely that Perry's ideas will be embraced by the psychiatric profession. Most psychiatrists today are psychopharmacologists who simply manage symptoms by dispensing pills, and they're wedded to the "chemical imbalance" theory of mental illness that's so widely promoted by the pharmaceutical industry.

This book should be read by anyone who's appalled by a mental health system that labels every condition a "disorder" and limits treatment to prescribing a pill. John Weir Perry points to a better way.

In fact I only can say this book is ok and that Inez Perry is talking about some other TWO volumes on this subject.Is there anybody who knows something about it and who is VERY familiarised
with the books of I.Perry and G.W.Carey?i.e. Astro biochemistry?
